Current Practices and Perceived Role of Community Pharmacists in Type 2 Diabetes Services
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic illness which is becoming more prevalent in developing countries, and it is being managed mostly in hospitals or clinics in underdeveloped nations. Community pharmacists are a valuable choice for diabetes care. However, only developed countries have data on community pharmacists' diabetes treatment practices.

Atypical Presentations of Foix-Chavany-Marie Syndrome (FCMS) in Stroke
Foix-Chavany-Marie syndrome (FCMS) presents with anarthria and bilateral (B/L) central facio-linguo-velo-pharyngo-masticatory paralysis with “autonomic voluntary dissociation.” Even though this syndrome is also referred to as (B/L) anterior operculum syndrome, patients with lesion in sites other than (B/L) opercular regions also can develop the syndrome. In this article we describe two such atypical cases.
An Inexpensive Method of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy for Extremities – a Case Series
Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is an established method for the faster wound healing of chronic non-healing wounds. We devised a NPWT system for wounds of the extremity using inexpensive, readily available materials in any hospital.
Takayasu Arteritis in Peripartum Period – A Clinical Paradox: A Case Report
Takayasu arteritis is a primary systemic vasculitides occurring among women in the childbearing age group. Preconception and antepartum management of arterial hypertension and TAK disease activity is important to improve maternal and fetal outcomes.
Somatic Cough Syndrome in a Male Child: A Case Report
A 10-year-old boy, presented with a one-year history of persistent cough, insidious in onset, which often exacerbated to vomiting, perspiration, and breathlessness. Cognitive Impairment in Strategic Infarct Dementia: A Report of Three Cases
Strokes involving specific areas regulating cognition and behavioral functions constitute strategic infarct vascular dementia. We present three patients with acute behavioral changes and cognitive impairment following a strategic infarct.
Scrotal Abdomen: Case Report and Management Principles
Hernias extending beyond the midpoint of the inner thigh in the standing position are called giant inguinal hernias or scrotal abdomen. They are rarely seen in common surgical practice. Huge inguinal hernias occur after years of neglect by the patient or in areas that are inaccessible to surgical services. Two cases of giant inguinal hernias which were managed successfully are presented here.
Acute Suppurative Thyroiditis (AST) with Thyroid Abscess: A Rare and Potentially Fatal Neck Infection
Thyroid abscess, although rare, is a condition that usually occurs as a sequela of acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST) which is an infection of the thyroid gland. We report the case of a 37-year-old male with acute suppurative thyroiditis with a thyroid abscess. He underwent incision and drainage of the abscess and was subsequently treated with systemic antibiotics. This condition warrants a prompt and timely diagnosis with appropriate management as it often leads to fatal complications if not diagnosed early.
A Unique Presentation of Ectopic Thyroid Tissue: Case Report and Management Principles
Ectopic thyroid is a rare clinical presentation to encounter in day-to-day clinical practice. We present a case of a 62-year-old female patient who presented with pain and swelling of the right submandibular region. The patient was then taken up by the doctors for right submandibular sialoadenectomy, and the histopathological examination of the operative specimen showed nodular colloidal goitre and mild chronic sialadenitis.
Primary Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK)-Negative Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL) Presenting as Perforation Peritonitis: A Case Report and Management Principles
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) has a characteristic feature that distinguishes it from the other types of non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHLs) - the presence of a marker on its surface called CD30. We are presenting a case of a 35-year-old male who presented to the emergency department with an acute episode of abdominal pain. He underwent emergency laparotomy with ileal resection and anastomosis, as he was diagnosed with perforation peritonitis. Histological and immuno-histochemical reports of the specimen showed a lymphoproliferative lesion, and it
helped reach the diagnosis of ALK-negative ALCL.
